Divokoza (eng. Chamois) is a resilient and stubborn animal. Even though it might seem a bit clumsy, it manages to defy harsh (Balkan) mountain rocks and winds, leaving behind new paths for others to set foot on. It’s not afraid to roam free, looking for remote places where it can enjoy some berries, get some fresh air and rest in quiet sunsets – not really demanding, right?

I identify myself with the chamois (especially when it comes to clumsiness). My mostly unplanned wanderings to far-away places help me to understand myself and people around me, to gain and share knowledge, to experience life.

Divokoza is my attempt to spread the word about other cultures, people, important questions to reflect upon and key lessons to understand. I wish to express through writing and photography the essence of the places I visit and to transmit the spirit of the people that inspire me by simply being themselves.

In this way, I hope to get closer to my roots and to the roots we all share.

The authenticity of living, something that we lack so much nowadays and it’s key to happiness, is hidden in simple things and simple people who stay true to themselves. The way to it leads through a harsh rocky track that perhaps only a crazy, adventurous chamois would take, but it’s the only way and it’s worth it. If I can transmit that, I can also inspire you to take the risk, to get off the beaten path and be part of the positive change. Then my mission would me more than accomplished.

I’ve categorized the content of this blog into different regions that I’ve visited but the topics tend to revolve around the same:

  • experiences (simple personal impressions and lessons from my travels)
  • cultures & traditions (authentic cultural phenomena I come across)
  • people (interviews or coverages on inspiring people and their projects/lifestyles oriented towards positive social change)

The latter is especially important because I wish to spread news about people who need support, either in terms of volunteering, donations or promotion, in order to keep their inspiring projects running. So, please share! 🙂

Thank you & cheers,
